MasterDrive Car Rental Terms & Conditions

Rental Rates

Rental rates are quoted in United States Dollars (USD) unless otherwise stated.

All rates include unlimited mileage and are subject to availability at the time of booking.

Rental periods are calculated on a 24-hour basis. For example, a vehicle collected at 10:00 a.m. should be returned by 10:00 a.m. on the agreed return date.

A grace period of up to one (1) hour may be permitted. Vehicles returned after the grace period may incur an additional day's rental or other applicable charges.

Rates may change without prior notice due to seasonal demand or promotional offers; however, once your reservation is confirmed, your quoted rental rate will be honoured.

Driver Eligibility

To rent a vehicle from MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd:

• Drivers must be 26 years of age or older.
• Drivers must be under 80 years of age.
• Drivers must possess a valid driver's licence that has been held for at least two (2) years.
• The driver's licence must be produced at the time of vehicle delivery, including for repeat customers.
• Drivers aged 70 years and older must present a valid medical certificate confirming they are fit to drive.

Only drivers listed on the Rental Agreement are permitted to operate the vehicle.

Vehicle Hire Levy (Barbados)

Effective 15 October 2025, the Government of Barbados introduced the mandatory Vehicle Hire Levy, replacing the former Visitor's Driving Permit.

The levy applies to all rental vehicles and is charged as follows:

• USD $2.50 per day
• Maximum charge of 7 days (USD $17.50)
• The levy is VAT exempt

A valid driver's licence is still required to rent and operate a vehicle in Barbados.

Reservations & Deposits

Reservations may be made online, by telephone, WhatsApp or email.

To secure a reservation, customers may:

• Pay the full rental amount; or
• Pay the required reservation deposit where available.

Reservations are confirmed only after payment has been successfully processed and confirmation has been issued.

Deposits paid toward a reservation are credited toward the final rental balance.

Reservation Changes

If you wish to modify your reservation, including the pickup date, return date, vehicle type, pickup location or driver details, please contact MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd as soon as possible.

All reservation changes are subject to vehicle availability and current rental rates. Additional charges may apply where the revised reservation results in a higher rental cost.

MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd will make every reasonable effort to accommodate requested changes but cannot guarantee availability.

Vehicle Collection & Return

Customers are encouraged to carefully inspect the vehicle before driving away.

Any existing scratches, dents or damage should be reported immediately and recorded on the Vehicle Inspection Report.

We also recommend taking photographs of the vehicle at both collection and return for your records.

Vehicles should be returned at the agreed location, date and time stated in the Rental Agreement.

Vehicle Condition at Collection

Prior to the commencement of the rental, the vehicle will be inspected by both the Hirer and a representative of MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd.

Any existing damage, defects or irregularities will be recorded on the Vehicle Inspection Report, which forms part of the Rental Agreement. Photographs and/or video recordings may also be taken for the protection of both parties.

By accepting the vehicle and signing the Vehicle Inspection Report, the Hirer acknowledges that the vehicle has been received in satisfactory condition, except for any damage or defects specifically noted on the inspection report.

The Hirer is encouraged to carefully inspect the vehicle before leaving the collection location and to immediately report any damage or discrepancies that may not have been recorded.

Failure to report any additional damage before departing the collection location may result in the Hirer being held responsible for any new damage identified upon the vehicle's return, subject to the terms of the Rental Agreement.

Extension of Hire

If the Hirer wishes to extend the rental period, MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd must be contacted before the scheduled return date and time.

Rental extensions are subject to vehicle availability and cannot be guaranteed.

No extension shall be considered valid unless it has been approved by MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd and the applicable rental charges have been paid or authorized.

By requesting and accepting an approved extension, the Hirer agrees that the additional rental period forms part of the original Rental Agreement and authorizes MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd to charge the payment method provided for the additional rental charges and any applicable fees.

Failure to return the vehicle by the agreed return date and time, or failure to obtain an approved extension, may result in additional rental charges, late return fees, and any other charges permitted under the Rental Agreement.

Where the vehicle is not returned and MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd is unable to contact the Hirer within a reasonable period, the matter may be reported to the relevant authorities and additional recovery costs may apply.

Unlimited Mileage

All MasterDrive Car Rentals include unlimited mileage unless otherwise stated in writing.

Customers may drive anywhere within Barbados without mileage restrictions during the rental period.

Unlimited mileage does not permit misuse, off-road driving, racing or any activity prohibited under the Rental Agreement.

Fuel Policy

Vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel unless otherwise agreed.

Vehicles should be returned with the same fuel level as provided at collection.

If the vehicle is returned with less fuel than provided, the Hirer agrees to pay:

• The cost of replacing the missing fuel.
• The applicable refuelling service fee.

Unused fuel is non-refundable.

Additional Drivers

Only drivers approved by MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd and listed on the Rental Agreement may operate the rental vehicle.

Additional drivers must satisfy all driver eligibility requirements and present a valid driver's licence before being approved.

Additional driver fees may apply.

The Hirer remains fully responsible for the actions of any approved additional driver during the rental period.

Child Seats & Accessories

Child safety seats and other rental accessories are available upon request and are subject to availability.

Customers are responsible for ensuring that child restraints are installed and used correctly.

Lost, stolen or damaged accessories will be charged at the replacement cost.

Insurance Coverage

All MasterDrive rental vehicles are insured in accordance with the laws of Barbados and the terms of the Rental Agreement.

Insurance coverage is subject to the conditions, exclusions and limitations outlined in the Rental Agreement.

Insurance does not cover damage resulting from negligence, misuse, unauthorized drivers, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, off-road use, racing, or any breach of the Rental Agreement.

Certain items, including tyres, rims, wheel covers, windscreens, mirrors, lost keys, interior damage, smoking damage and missing accessories are excluded from Collision Damage Waiver coverage unless otherwise stated.

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is available for USD $12.00 per day.

CDW reduces the Hirer's financial responsibility in the event of accidental damage to the rental vehicle, subject to a deductible of USD $1,750.00.

CDW does not cover:

Tyres, Rims, Wheel covers, Windscreens, Mirrors, Lost keys, Interior damage, Smoking damage, Missing accessories, Negligence, Unauthorized drivers, Driving under the influence, Any breach of the Rental Agreement

A non-refundable administrative fee of USD $25.00 may also apply where additional administrative work is required.

Super Damage Waiver (SDW)

Super Damage Waiver (SDW) is available for USD $25.00 per day.

When SDW has been purchased and the Hirer complies with all terms of the Rental Agreement, the deductible for covered accidental damage is reduced to Zero (USD $0.00).

SDW does not cover damage arising from negligence, unauthorized drivers, driving under the influence, off-road use, racing, lost keys, interior damage, smoking damage, missing accessories, tyres, rims, wheel covers (hubcaps) windscreens, mirrors, wrong fuel or any breach of the Rental Agreement.

Security Deposit & Pre-Authorization

To help protect both the Hirer and MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd, a pre-authorization will be placed on the Hirer's credit card at the start of the rental.

A pre-authorization is not a charge. It is a temporary hold placed by your financial institution to secure funds during the rental period.

The pre-authorized amount depends on the protection option selected:

Protection Selected Pre-Authorization Hold

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) or No Waiver USD $1,000.00

Super Damage Waiver (SDW) USD $250.00

Provided the vehicle is returned in accordance with the Rental Agreement and no additional charges are due, the pre-authorization will be released.

Please note that the release of funds is processed by your card issuer and may take 1–7 business days, or longer depending on your financial institution.

Normal wear and tear resulting from ordinary use of the vehicle will not be treated as vehicle damage.

Credit Card Collision Coverage

Some credit card providers offer rental vehicle insurance as a benefit to their cardholders.

Customers wishing to rely on their credit card coverage are responsible for confirming their eligibility directly with their card issuer before the rental begins.

In the event of damage, theft or loss, the Hirer remains responsible for paying MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd all amounts due under the Rental Agreement.

Upon request, MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd will provide reasonable supporting documentation, including repair invoices, estimates, Vehicle Inspection Reports and photographs, to assist the Hirer with submitting a claim to their credit card provider.

MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd is not responsible for the approval or denial of any claim submitted to a third-party insurer or credit card provider.

Declining CDW & SDW Coverage

If the Hirer declines both CDW and SDW, the Hirer accepts financial responsibility for damage to the rental vehicle up to USD $2,500, together with any applicable administrative fees, towing charges, recovery costs, storage fees, loss of use (where applicable), and any other charges permitted under the Rental Agreement.

Vehicle Damage & Credit Card Authorization

The Hirer is responsible for returning the vehicle in the same condition in which it was received, except for ordinary wear and tear resulting from normal use.

Ordinary Wear & Tear

Ordinary wear and tear refers to the normal deterioration of the vehicle caused by everyday use and does not include damage resulting from collisions, negligence, misuse, vandalism, smoking, missing accessories, improper operation, pothole impacts, curb damage, or failure to comply with the Rental Agreement.

The vehicle will be inspected before collection and again immediately upon its return. The signed Vehicle Inspection Report forms part of the Rental Agreement.

If damage, missing equipment or excessive cleaning requirements are identified, MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd may assess the damage and determine the applicable charges.

Supporting documentation may include:

• Signed Rental Agreement
• Vehicle Inspection Reports
• Photographs
• Video recordings
• Repair estimates
• Repair invoices
• Police reports
• Customer correspondence
• Other supporting documentation

Post-Return Inspection

The Hirer acknowledges that a final inspection of the vehicle may be completed after the vehicle has been returned.

Where the vehicle is returned outside business hours, at an unattended location, in poor lighting conditions, or where a detailed inspection cannot reasonably be completed at the time of return, MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd reserves the right to carry out a post-return inspection within a reasonable period.

If additional damage, excessive cleaning requirements, missing accessories or other chargeable items are identified during the post-return inspection, MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd may prepare a Post-Return Vehicle Condition Report supported by photographs, videos, repair estimates, invoices and any other relevant documentation.

The Hirer agrees that this documentation may be relied upon when determining responsibility for any damage or additional charges arising from the rental.

Administrative Fee

An administrative processing fee of USD $25.00 may be charged where MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd is required to perform additional work arising from vehicle damage, accidents, insurance claims, traffic violations, towing, recovery, repairs, or other matters outside the normal administration of the rental.

By signing the Rental Agreement, the Hirer expressly authorizes MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd to charge the payment card provided for:

• Vehicle damage
• Insurance deductibles
• Approved rental extensions
• Fuel shortages
• Lost or damaged keys
• Missing accessories or equipment
• Traffic fines
• Parking violations
• Administrative processing fees
• Towing, recovery and storage charges
• Cleaning charges
• Smoking charges
• Any other amounts due under the Rental Agreement.

Where damage is discovered after the vehicle has been returned, the Hirer authorizes MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd to obtain repair quotations, complete the necessary repairs and process the applicable charges in accordance with the Rental Agreement.

If any charge is disputed, MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd reserves the right to provide signed agreements, inspection reports, photographs, estimates, invoices, police reports and any other supporting documentation to the Hirer's financial institution, payment processor, insurance provider or other authorised party for the purpose of resolving the dispute.

Damage Assessment & Disputes

If the Hirer disagrees with any damage assessment, they should notify MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd promptly upon receiving notification.

MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd will review any additional information provided by the Hirer before making a final determination where appropriate.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits the rights or obligations of either party under the laws of Barbados.

Accidents & Damage Reporting

Any accident, damage, theft or loss involving the rental vehicle must be reported to MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd immediately.

The Hirer must:

• Contact MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd as soon as possible.
• Contact the Police where required.
• Do not admit liability or accept responsibility on behalf of MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd.
• Take photographs of the vehicles, location and any visible damage where it is safe to do so.
• Complete any required Accident Report or insurance documentation.
• Cooperate fully with MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd, the Police and any insurance provider.

Failure to report an accident or damage may constitute a breach of the Rental Agreement and may affect insurance coverage.

The Hirer must not authorize repairs by third parties without the written approval of MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd.

Traffic Fines & Administrative Charges

The Hirer is responsible for all traffic fines, parking tickets, speeding violations, penalties, towing charges and any other offences incurred during the rental period.

If MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd receives any notice, fine or penalty relating to the rental period, the Hirer authorizes MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd to charge the payment card provided for the amount due together with any applicable administrative processing fee.

Smoking & Excessive Cleaning

All MasterDrive vehicles are 100% smoke-free.

Smoking, vaping or the use of illegal substances inside the vehicle is strictly prohibited.

The Hirer is responsible for returning the vehicle in a reasonably clean condition.

If the vehicle is returned with excessive sand, mud, dirt, stains, spills, pet hair or similar conditions requiring cleaning beyond normal use, the Hirer agrees to pay the actual cleaning costs incurred.

Minimum Additional Cleaning Charge: USD $50.00

If the vehicle is returned with evidence of smoking, vaping, illegal substance use, excessive odours or any condition requiring professional valet or deodorizing services, the Hirer agrees to pay the actual cost of restoring the vehicle to its original condition.

Minimum Valet / Smoke Remediation Charge: USD $200.00

Where applicable, additional charges may apply depending on the extent of cleaning required together with any applicable administrative fees.

Lost Keys & Vehicle Accessories

The Hirer is responsible for all keys, key fobs, documents, accessories and equipment supplied with the vehicle.

If any keys, key fobs, licence plates, registration documents, floor mats, wheel covers, child seats, charging cables or other supplied items are lost, stolen or damaged, the Hirer agrees to pay the full replacement or repair cost.

Additional charges may apply for towing, recovery, programming, transportation or administrative work connected with the replacement of lost or damaged items.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

We understand that travel plans may change. If you need to cancel your reservation, please notify MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd as soon as possible.

Cancellations made at least 24 hours before the scheduled pickup time may be eligible for a refund, less any applicable cancellation or processing fees.

Reservations cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, or customers who fail to collect the vehicle without notifying us, may be treated as a No-Show and may be subject to applicable charges.

Once a rental has commenced, no refunds or credits will be provided for unused rental days due to early return.

During peak travel periods, including Christmas, Crop Over and other high-demand seasons, longer cancellation notice periods may apply.

Delayed Flights

If your flight is delayed, cancelled or rescheduled, please notify MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd as soon as possible.

Where possible, we will make reasonable efforts to adjust the vehicle delivery time based on availability.

MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd is not responsible for delays caused by airlines, immigration, customs, baggage handling or other circumstances outside our control.

Roadside Assistance

Roadside assistance is available for mechanical breakdowns and emergencies during the rental period.

If you experience any issue with the vehicle, please contact MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd immediately at (246) 837-9843.

The Hirer must not abandon the vehicle or arrange repairs without prior authorization from MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd, except in an emergency where immediate action is necessary to protect safety.

Charges may apply where roadside assistance is required due to customer negligence, lost keys, wrong fuel, flat tyres, battery drain, or misuse of the vehicle.

Payment Methods

MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd accepts approved payment methods including major credit cards, debit cards, cash, bank transfer and other electronic payment methods where available.

A valid credit card may still be required for the security deposit or pre-authorization, even where the rental payment is made by another method.

All payments must be completed before the vehicle is released unless otherwise agreed by MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd.

Right to Refuse Rental

MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd reserves the right to refuse, decline or cancel any reservation or rental at its sole discretion where it reasonably believes that doing so is necessary to protect its customers, employees, vehicles or business.

This may include, but is not limited to, the following circumstances:

• The Hirer fails to satisfy the driver eligibility requirements.
• Required identification or documentation cannot be produced or verified.
• The required payment or security pre-authorization cannot be successfully processed.
• The Hirer appears to be under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any substance that may impair their ability to safely operate a vehicle.
• The Hirer provides false, misleading or incomplete information.
• The Hirer breaches these Terms & Conditions or the Rental Agreement.
• MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd believes that proceeding with the rental may place persons or property at risk.

Where a reservation is cancelled or refused by MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd, any refund shall be processed in accordance with the applicable Cancellation & Refund Policy.

Privacy

MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information.

Personal information collected during the reservation and rental process is used solely for legitimate business purposes, including identity verification, processing reservations, payment transactions, insurance requirements, vehicle security, customer support and compliance with legal or regulatory obligations.

Your personal information will not be sold or disclosed to third parties except where required by law, necessary to process your rental, recover outstanding amounts, investigate accidents or claims, prevent fraud, or protect the legal rights of MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd.

By making a reservation and signing the Rental Agreement, the Hirer consents to the collection, use and storage of personal information in accordance with these Terms & Conditions and applicable laws.

Prohibited Use

The rental vehicle must not be used:

• By any driver not listed and approved on the Rental Agreement.
• For racing, speed testing or competitions.
• For towing or pushing another vehicle.
• Off-road or on unauthorized terrain.
• While the driver is under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any substance that may impair driving.
• For any illegal purpose.
• To carry hazardous, flammable or unlawful materials.
• In any manner that breaches the Rental Agreement.

Any prohibited use may void insurance coverage and make the Hirer fully responsible for all resulting damage, loss, charges and claims.

Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions and the Rental Agreement shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Barbados.

Any dispute arising from or relating to the rental of a vehicle from MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of Barbados, unless otherwise required by applicable law.

If any provision of these Terms & Conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

Acceptance of Terms

By making a reservation, accepting the vehicle and signing the Rental Agreement, the Hirer confirms that they have read, understood and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.

These Terms & Conditions form part of the rental arrangement between the Hirer and MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits the rights and obligations of either party under the signed Rental Agreement. In the event of any inconsistency, the signed Rental Agreement shall prevail.

MasterDrive Car Rentals Ltd reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions at any time without prior notice. The version published on this website at the time of booking shall apply unless otherwise agreed in writing.
